Monique Sharp

Monique Sharp I was born and raised in Geneva Switzerland, where I did most of my general studies both academic and artistic. Artistically, I commenced hand painting on ceramics, initially as an occasional hobby but very quickly I realised that this was a most rewarding form of art and decided to widen and improve my skills in various techniques. To achieve this, I followed a 2 year course at Geneva’s Art College, studying mainly the fine detail and art of European Porcelain painting. Somewhat later, this was followed by a course in England studying porcelain restoration, thereafter majoring on the restoration of finely detailed Meissen figurines. Over the years, I have branched out and acquired more modern techniques in alternative art forms, turning more towards the abstract world. Painting on canvas has been one of them, then more recently I discovered “Resin Art” painting with its various techniques and mediums as an abstract work. It is certainly very different to conventional work but very exciting and also extremely rewarding, if not always completely predictable.

Pamela Esseen

Pamela Esseen. I have always been a ‘creative’ person, I knitted toys, made my own clothes and jewellery etc. But it wasn’t until my mid forties that I seriously began to paint. My training was in 3D/Interior Design at Kingston University, which I left in 1983 to start my own Interior Design Business in London. When I had my daughters 1989/91 I changed direction and produced ‘Perspectives’ for companies such as Sainsburys and Sketchleys. It was when we moved to Marlow 15 years ago that I started experimenting and joined some evening classes. I was so moved by my early successes that this encouraged me to continue. I then went back to Reading Uni for my PGCE in 2000 and began another career as an Art Teacher, which I still am. This is a challenging career and doesn’t always leave me time for my own work but I do get ideas from the students and have a first-hand understanding of their difficulties. My talents, I think lie with Portraits and Life work: I seem to have an instinctive understanding of the structure of the human form. I am also passionate about colour, so most of my work would have slightly exaggerated colours. I have completed commissions for portraits, nudes, pets, houses, abstracts and ceramic work. I hope you enjoy my work and should you be thinking commissioning a painting, please contact me.

Bee Skelton

People who buy Bee Skelton's art want joyfulness in their lives. Bee paints with happy colours, telling stories about people and places. Believing, as did Picasso, that every child is an artist, she challenges herself to keep a joyous simplicity and childlike clarity of vision in her work. For many years a traditional portrait and mixed media artist, Bee now concentrates her practice on making paintings about her own life and lives of others in a contemporary naive style, inspired by people and surroundings, landscape and memory; working mainly in acrylics on wood panels and canvas. Her commissioned work involves a close collaboration with clients, often to picture personal elements of their lives, house and garden, town, favourite place, holidays, celebrations, people and pets. Bee studied fine art at the Cyprus College of Art, where she lived for several years, and the Open College of the Arts UK. Her work has been commissioned and in private collections of clients from countries including USA, Canada, Singapore, France, Holland, Denmark, Cyprus, South Africa and UK

David Wright

David Wright Stoneware artisanal pottery I started potting at school 50 years ago and my love for ceramics has never gone away. I retired 3 years ago and now devote a good part of my time to pottery from my studio (shed) in Henley on Thames. Most of my work is stoneware which is OVEN, DISHWASHER and MICROWAVE safe. I only use food safe glazes, my work is made to be used. Almost all of my work is hand thrown on a wheel and I like it to be precise, so lids fit and spouts pour well. I also like to create new concepts, such as the birdfeeders or hanging planters. I like to work to commission and will happily create a unique piece that fits the particular needs of my clients. If you cannot find what you want, I can replicate something that has been broken or create something you have seen but cannot find or alternatively something with a particular purpose. The price will be fixed and when finished in about a month, clients can either take the piece because they like it, reject it and ask me to try harder or just walk away.

Tara-lee Hollander

Although I am a self-taught painter and artist, I find my work progresses and grows through exposure to other artists, inspiring works of art and also through travel. Throughout my life art has been a part of me; it has even made up an important part of my earliest memories. Me drawing my own hands for lack of reference photos are part of these vivid memories. I love looking at the world around me and sharing that with others through my work. Interestingly, the beauty of the human body energizes most of my art efforts. The complexity of life and the intricate world of people are a never ending source of inspiration and influence on me as a creative.

Jill Chadwick

My passion for glass and colour started almost 30 years ago. I love to explore the endless possibilities of working in glass and relish the anticipation of opening the kiln to see a new creation or creating a stained-glass window design for a customer. I make fused glass artworks, stained glass windows and resin jewellery and am happy to take commissions.

Rosanne Chetwood

I'm Roseanna and I specialise in capturing beloved pets on canvas. I love to use palette knives to create a bold, sculptural surface of thick paint. The result is a fresh and modern style of pet portrait, which I know you will love. I graduated with a degree in Fine Art from the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design back in 2013. Since then I've spent my life painting, honing my skills and searching for my unique style. My eureka moment came in 2017 when I relented and listened to my Dad's advice to swap my paint brushes in for palette knives; I picked up my first palette knife and my art career took off with my Palette Knife Pets series. There is a lesson to be learnt here... listen to your parents! I currently live and work at my studio in High Wycombe. I exhibit at shows, events and art galleries in the Buckinghamshire and Berkshire areas so if you get a chance say hello and pop along and see my paintings in person.

Jane Cowan

Jane Cowan lives Marlow, Buckinghamshire. A Scot from Edinburgh, her love of experimental art stems from her days travelling and living abroad in her twenties. During this time, drawn to the changing colours, shapes and forms of the southern European landscape, she was inspired to take up painting more seriously. Jane is motivated principally by colour and particularly enjoys representing the natural world atmospherically in semi-abstract and abstract style, using mostly acrylic, mixed media and occasionally , oil. More recently she has been experimenting and exploring the effects of layering and mixing mediums directly onto the canvass and finishing the effect by applying different varnishes and resin to encourage form, texture and movement. Her aim is to achieve mysterious, random patterns and texture by overlaying, scraping away and reapplying endless layers to reveal hidden mixtures of underlying layers. Form results from the need for balance – of colour and structure on the canvass. Her passion for the Western Isles of Scotland and the western shores of Devon and Cornwall, means that she is often drawn to painting vivid and vibrant sea scenes as a way of transporting the viewer into a sensation of memory. Most of her abstract and semi-abstract paintings are fictional, but are based on numerous sketches, photographs ad images imprinted in her mind.

Bronwen Coussins

Having been introduced to clay about 10 years ago, I quickly found my passion for hand building (rather than throwing on a wheel). This method allows me to really feel what I am making, developing each pot organically so that one pot is never the same as another. Initially, I finished my pots by burnishing them but recently I have been venturing into the unpredictability of glazes. What ever method I use, colour is very important to me and like many, my inspiration comes from the environment that I often find myself in, whether it be the coastline - rock, sea, sand, pebbles or the woodland - moss and wood. I make my pots for their aesthetic appearance rather than for functional use. Hope you enjoy my work.

Kerry Sweetingham - Clarke

I started life as a photographer following a degree in Advertising and Editiorial Design. From there life took hold with Family and two bouts of cancer so I didn’t return to photography until about 10 years ago. Where my passion grew and grew. Just before Lockdown I picked up an artist paint brush for the first time ever (I paint furniture for a living) and started to reproduce some of my photographs into artworks and it’s turned into a bit of an obsession! Have done various commissions for people and sold a couple of pieces but this world is pretty new to me and I’m learning by trial and error!

Charlotte Martin

Through her painting, the French artist Charlotte Martin explores philosophically her escape from her past structured world. A world where there was no room for space, colours, freedom or excitement. She initially broke out by physically changing her environment from Paris to London. While modelling in Paris, Milan and London she changed her name from Catherine to Charlotte and created a whole new identity for herself. Then she embarked on a lifestyle of no boundaries... out of control, into the hedonistic world of living with the Cream of 60's Londons music and fashion world. Her name has been linked to Eric Clapton, the Beatles, Jimmy Page and Martin Sharp, Australia's most famous pop artist. These past links remain strongly with her in her present search for the balance of chaos and structure, as well as a need for looking through "frames within frames". To do this Charlotte frequently uses nature as well as urban settings as filters; exploring relationships between highly controlled and less controlled visual elements in order to generate lots of formal collisions, surprises and tensions emulating from bright and stimulating colours, Exploring all of this is an enjoyable, yet challenging preoccupation, helping her to find equilibrium in her life today and to be able to share this with the viewer. She has exhibited in many venues in and around Maidenhead, Berkshire, where her studio is located. Charlotte has accepted various past commissions and her art is represented in collections both locals and further afield.

Helen Vidler

I am a portrait artist specialising in graphite pencil and also colour pencil and Indian ink. This colour style brings a unique illustrative quality to my work. Using high quality paper and materials I take commissions to draw pets of all kind, children and adults. I also paint with acrylic and multi textures. Using different materials to create geometric shapes, the textures have a 'stand alone ' quality within the painting. But combining this with a vibrant subject, such as colourful birds, the texture and subject run seamlessly and work together throughout the painting bringing you something eye catching and captivating.I also teach group and private lessons ranging from drawing to painting.
